The Virtual Agency All Grown Up? EM's Office Now Open for Business
By Ken Chen
May 17, 2016
At some point in the last couple of years, I’ve had a goal to buy an office space to become the physical embodiment for EM Marketing. Last Thursday at our Open House, we made that a reality by opening our little office at 260 Main Street in Redwood City.
Our goal as a company continues to help our consultants find true work-life balance by becoming successful freelance consultants. We think this space is a big step in doing that because unlike in my journey, you now have a space of your own to:
- Invite clients to meet and work,
- Plan, collaborate, and network with other freelancers, and
- Share and learn how to be a better consultant or marketer.
As a freelance consultant, we consistently hear that it’s difficult going at it alone. Business development is a constant chore. You want to stay on top of current trends and practices, but don’t have the time to figure it out yourself. And, so many of our consultants miss the camaraderie and feeling of being on a team — things they had working full-time jobs at companies. We hope that this place can help fill those holes.
I’m on Year 13 now and it does feel like I’ve finally left home (literally) and gone to school or the office. There have been 1000s of meetings in Starbucks, Peet’s, Philz, at client offices, via Skype, and in shared office spaces along the way. It’s about time I found a home.
